How Long Is the Ideal Penis?
Penis size may be the single greatest cause of anxiety among men. Worrying about your penis size can lead to relationship problems, avoiding sex or relationships, erectile dysfunction, or premature ejaculation. Studies of penis size show the average erect penis ranges from 5 to 7 inches. Is that enough to satisfy the average woman? To find out, almost 40,000 women were asked, “How long is the ideal penis?”
The fewest number of women preferred short penises. Only 3% of women preferred penises measuring 3-4 inches. The next smallest group of women (5%) thought 4-5 inches was the ideal length. The next smallest percentages were 6% for women who preferred large penises of 8-9 inches and the same percentage of women liking them even longer. Then there is a big jump to 20% of women who think 7-8 inches is ideal. Women who thought the ideal penis was 5-6 inches came in next at 24%. The winner in the ideal penis length survey was 6-7 inches being the perfect size for 36% of women.
What does this survey tell us? First off, really large penises of 8 inches or more are not that popular with women. Only 1 out of 8 women likes them extra large. On the other hand, really short penises are even less popular. Only 1 in 12 women would be satisfied with a penis measuring less than 5 inches. Penises measuring in the average range of 5-7 inches satisfy the majority of women–60%. That’s the good news for the average-sized guy. The bad news is that about 1 out of 3 (32%) do prefer larger than average penises of more than 7 inches.
So what’s a guy to do? If you’re average, that’s going to be just fine for about 2 out of 3 women, and with the others, you can make up for it in other ways. The statistic refers to preferring the penis only and doesn’t consider the man it ‘belongs to. Also, I wish I could play the lottery with 1 in 12 odds. Do you know or can you meet twelve single women? The chances are that at least one of them prefers a small penis. Finding her may not be easy, but it’s possible.

The same study shows that women who are attaractive place a large importance on size where women less attractive place LESS importance.

most medical literature shows that the average male is about 5.6 inches(median not mean) and the median girth is 4.6. this goes across all races.
statistically speaking, people with 7 inch penis’s are very rare. most porn stars have 8 inch penis’ and they are huge…9 is even rare for PORN STARS-at that level you reach god like status-i.e. lexington steele(who claims 11 but really isnt)
for the record..if you were to pick 100 random guys regardless of race in the US you would have about 95 guys between 4.5 and 7 inches. the other 5 would be a mix of guys at or below 4.5 and 7 or above.

I’m not quite sure what your objection to my article is. You claim that the most renowned sex researcher in history, Dr. Alfred Kinsey, was wrong, and that the average penis size is actually 4/10 of an inch shorter than Kinsey’s survey found. So what?
My article is based on a survey (which I did not take) of women’s preferences for penis size, which has nothing to do with the ACTUAL MEDICAL LITERATURE. The point of the article is that women vary in their preferences for penis size. Some like them small, some like them medium, and some like them large. The survey attempted to quantify those preferences.
A man’s desire for a big penis is usually not primarily about sexually satisfying women anyway. It’s about making himself feel more masculine. You’re wasting your time urging men not to want a big penis. For good or bad, it’s ingrained in men’s psyches, just as wanting big breasts is ingrained in women’s psyches.
BTW, a statement from an anonymous commenter that the “stuff” on an established, popular blog is “rubbish” is not particularly persuasive. Unless you’re willing to reveal your identity and your credentials, you would do better just sticking to the points you want to make.

Well I’m 8 long 5 maybe 5 1/4 round and every woman I know wants something close to that. So I wouldnt say that she is playing up the numbers because most of my friends are female and unless she has a small vagina I don’t think 5 will do it maybe six but 5 without a great girth probably wont do it. The average size, by definition, is sufficient. The truth is, most women don’t have a clue which size they prefer. They know if small is a problem or big is a problem, but show a girl a penis anywhere between 4-9 inches and I doubt she’d be able to correctly guess the length to even the nearest half inch.

I’ve been through the self-doubt phase and to a lesser extent, the self-confidence phase and have bounced back and forth most of my adult life. I grew tired of bouncing so I needed a new perspective. So….
Since women’s genitalia are hidden for the most part as compared to men’s, let’s unhide them with a mental trick.
Let’s start with 100 imaginary women whose vaginas have been turned inside out. Now their sizes are similar to men’s sizes in that they can be directly observed and compared, but reversed. It’s their turn to get their egos wacked by the opposite sex. Or is it?
Most guys would initially assume they wanted a small one but if they always paired up with the smallest ones they would eventually complain that women are always reluctant to have sex with them or find sex to be painful or complain while having sex. That isn’t on the Top 10 list of desirable female attributes.
There would be some guys who would automatically pick the biggest ones but after awhile they would likely be complaining that all women have huge vaginas and sex isn’t what it’s cracked up to be and so on.
There would be some guys who would think about it for a minute and decide that everyone is different and if everyone was instantly content with anyone else of the opposite sex then none of these types of conversations would exist. People pair up according to their accurate and inaccurate perceptions of themselves, their accurate and inaccurate perceptions of their partners, and how well those accurate and inaccurate perceptions blend to produce good feelings that are derived partly from reality and partly from delusion. In other words, what you think you require to be happy with someone and what you actually need to be happy with someone can be two differnet things. People that pair up successfully find people that are a good fit, perceptually and in the real world. It’s better to have some fun in the real world than to have perfect fun in the future world of your mind, especially if that future world never materializes. But don’t drop for the first thing that walks by either. There’s a balance in every choice, including relationships.
Fill in the inevitable gaps between the ideal and the reality with love or some other suitable mental state. Self-delusion might not seem desirable but everyone has it so use it to your benefit instead of steadfastly trying to eliminate it entirely. There are no absolutely perfect fits so holding out for perfect is the same thing as choosing to remain alone. Flex your requirements a little. After you’ve had them for awhile, they tend to become too rigid. What could make you happy and what your ‘list’ says can be two differnt things. Your list might be pretty accurate, but if it’s too specific, then reread the sentence about perfection and alone.
People that don’t pair up successfully are those that look at all 100 vaginas (or penises) and then choose the biggest one or the smallest one without regard for their own size. Rather than looking for the biggest or the smallest, the successful partner seeker will look for someone likely somewhere between the two extremes that makes for a good fit. That requires some risky, possibly ego-bruising trial and error that might cause some to abandon the search entirely. Those that abandon the search will remain alone. Those that continue with and improve on it’s execution will eventually find the perfect fit and if they aren’t tight-assholed about it, will have fun in the process, even with those that aren’t the perfect fit. As the saying goes, when sex is good, it’s great, but when sex is bad, it’s still pretty good.

Thats interesting the average joe is some where between 5-6(5.1,5.5,5.9 measured studies) and the average gal prefers someone over the average we’ll say an inch. Now Im not a gal so idk how much an inch difference makes to a gal but to a guy its half his life. So most guys cant measure up to most gals. The only issue I would really have is how much women can actually spot a penis and get it down to say the inch. Like different between 5.5 and 6.5 which if you migh’tve noticed is a big deal to guys lol.

Great article! I realize it was published years ago but I enjoyed the read. I appreciate the effort you spend looking at research and also explaining that preferences can vary widely. I think survey data may indicate that “only” one in three women want a larger cock, but if you were to look at physiological responses I would guess more like 1/2 like 7″ erect and 5.5″ girth. Why do I say that? I don’t have actual data, I haven’t done a research study on this topic, but there are plenty of websites that women explain their ideal size. Most of the women seem to want 7.5″ by 5.5″ cocks.
They like that feeling. However, Svetlana is definitely correct saying we men spend too much time worrying about our size because penis size is only one aspect of a man. Every woman does think “size matters” some put a lot of value on penis size while others put very little. Explained another way, it is a high priority for some women whereas other women would like a partner with a bigger penis but they want many other things before that (like security, love, tall, smart, goal-oriented, etc).
